Abstract
The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (DPI) launched its Native American Essential Understanding Project in 2016, modeled after similar programs in Montana and South Dakota. The North Dakota project began with interviewing elders from four tribes in the state for cultural and historical information that can now be integrated into classroom instruction across the state, in all content areas, and all grade levels.
