Abstract
This descriptive study explores the participation of children of immigrants in early care and education programs. The researchers used the Early Childhood Longitudinal, Kindergarten Class of 2010-11 data set to answer three research questions. (1) What are the demographics of this group of children? (2) What are the enrollment patterns of these children in early childhood programs prior to kindergarten? (3) What are the implications of the results of this study for the long-term economic growth of the US and its implications for policy makers regarding program access and quality? Results from this study indicate the children of immigrants have fewer resources and greater need than children of US-born parents.
