Abstract
This report is a follow up to one released in 2010, Mind the (Other) Gap, that identified large gaps in academic achievement at the top end of the ability distribution. Five brief sections review related studies since the 2010 report; examine data on the relationship between minimum competency achievement gaps and excellence gaps and the overall level of excellence in American schools; and provide recommendations for research, policy, and practice.
