Abstract
The Language Usage Survey Guidance Handbook is revised from an earlier version published in 2016. This guide walks the reader through the entire process of identifying potential English learners (ELs). It starts with identifying which staff should be trained to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, discusses specific assessments, and ends with notifying families of their children's survey results and EL status. Checklists, sample letters, suggested communication strategies, and resources for addressing ELs with disabilities are included in this updated guide.
