Abstract
This brief provides research-based information on the suspension and expulsion of young children attending early care and education programs. A disproportionate number of preschool children who are expelled or suspended are males who are minorities, ELs, and/or children with disabilities. This brief discusses the impacts of suspension and expulsion on children, families, and communities. It examines current policies and identifies future policy needs to address this practice.
