Abstract
Has the teaching profession changed over the past three decades? The authors analyzed national data from the Schools Staffing Survey and the Teacher Follow-Up Survey collected by the National Center for Education Statistics from 1987 to 2016 and found that the teaching profession has indeed changed. They identified seven trends, one of which is that the teaching profession is more racially and ethnically diverse. But does this increase match the increased numbers of students in the nation's schools who are more racially and ethnically diverse?
