Abstract
The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) members, and staff from the American Institutes of Research (AIR) and Education Northwest identified the attributes of effective teachers of English learners (ELs) and integrated these characteristics into two widely used teacher observation tools, the Danielson Framework for Teaching and the Marzano Focused Teacher Evaluation Model. The link provided for this resource takes the reader to a report the group produced describing the process used to enhance these two observational tools, and a discussion of the competencies EL teachers should have. The link also provides access to the two observation tools with EL-enhanced practices and exemplars the authors developed.
