Abstract

This two-part podcast is hosted by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA). It focuses on how community-based heritage language schools contribute to the multilingual landscape in the United States. The podcast features a panel of experts that includes Joy Kreeft Peyton, the president of the Coalition of Community-Based Heritage Language Schools; Ana Lucia Lico, Co-Founder and Board Member of ABRACE; Heika Feltes, teacher and co-director at Bay Area Kinderstube; and Shahid Iqbal, Co-Founder and Program Director of the Indus Arts Council.

In Part II of the podcast, Heika Feltes discusses Kinderstube and its contribution to heritage language education in the Bay Area, while Shahid Iqbal talks about the work of the Indus Arts Council in Houston, TX.
