Abstract
In this two-part podcast hosted by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA), we are joined by Montserrat Garibay, Assistant Deputy Secretary and Director of OELA. To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Montserrat spoke with three award-winning children’s book authors: Dr. Carmen Tafolla, Beatrice Zamora, and Duncan Tonatiuh. All three panelists are recipients of the Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children’s Book Award, which honors authors and illustrators who write about the Mexican American experience. In this podcast, the authors will discuss their work and inspiration and read excerpts from their books.
