Abstract
There has been disproportional representation of students from various subgroups within the identified gifted and talented population for many years. This study focuses on the issue of disproportionality in gifted education among English learners (ELs). It looked at state and national data to track whether there have been any changes over time. It also examined if proportionality is correlated to state policies that mandate all students be screened for eligibility for a gifted education program.
