The number of dual language learners (DLLs) in classrooms continues to grow, yet many classroom teachers are monolingual English speakers. One way these teachers can create equitable learning opportunities and show DLLs and native English students in their classes that all home languages are valued are welcome is to use translation apps for communicating with the student and family, building relationships, and supporting bilingualism. This article discusses three apps that have been shown to be helpful: Speak and Translate, Microsoft Translator, and Google Translate.
