Abstract
This sequel to the 1999 How People Learn considers what science now tells us about how people from birth through old age learn. The report includes several recommendations for schools and educators based on these findings. A theme running throughout is that the cultures and experiences children have, greatly influence how they engage in education and learning. In addition to providing recommendations educators should consider, this report also debunks some long-held teaching approaches such as teaching to different learning styles. The information here is applicable to teachers of English language learners.
