Abstract
"This study investigated whether different instructional practices in prekindergarten (pre-K) were related to gains in language and/or literacy skills. A total of 455 children, including Spanish-English dual language learners (DLLs), in 63 pre-K classrooms in rural communities were in the study. One of the study's findings is that expressive language development is positively associated with supportive teacher-child language exchanges and negatively related to large group activities."
