Abstract
The U.S. Department of Education's Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) and Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) are sponsoring this one-day program on English Learner Students with Disabilities (ELSWDs). Panel 1 (9:00-11:00 a.m. ET.) will explore "Differentiating Language and Literacy Acquisition from Disability"; Panel 2 (11:15-1:00 p.m. ET.) will explore Valid and Reliable Assessments for ELSWDs"; and Panel 3 (2:00-3:00 p.m. ET.) will explore "Assessing ELs with Significant Cognitive DisabilitiesAlternate ELP Standards and Assessments, and Growth and Attainment Criteria" Diane August, an American Institutes for Research (AIR) managing researcher and EL expert, will facilitate the panels. The live event will be held at the LBJ Auditorium, U.S. Department of Education headquarters, 400 Maryland Avenue, SW, Washington, DC
