English Language Learners in Public Schools

This is an updated report on the number and percentages of the K-12 school population who were identified as English learner (ELs) in 2018. The report presents the data in terms of: (1) The percentage of the K-12 population who are ELs by state, (2) The percentage of K-12 students who were ELs by locale (city, suburban, town, rural), (3) The percentage of K-12 students who were identified as ELs by grade level, and (4) The number and percentage distribution of ELs by the 10 most commonly reported home languages reported by ELs.
