Abstract
This article focuses on young dual language learners, early childhood education programs, and effective instructional practices. The author reiterates findings from the 2017 Promoting the Educational Success of Children and Youth Learning English: Promising Futures published by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, which lay the foundation for the practices the author describes. The importance of continuing to develop the child's home language while the child is learning English is highlighted.
