Abstract
This introduction to a panel presentation on Dual Language Immersion (DLI) education provides the educational philosophy, the program goals, and general overview of DLI program growth in the United States. The introduction presents data on program growth and current numbers in DLI programs, the rationale for DLI programs, and state-level programs and policies in support of DLI.
