English Learners Who Are Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander (June 2019)

Fifty-three percent of ELs who are NHPI are concentrated in 25 LEAs across the United States. These 25 LEAs cover only 0.15 percent of the total number of LEAs in the U.S. Hawaii enrolls over 10,000 NHPI students, representing 28.9 percent of their EL enrollment. NHPI students represent 53.6 percent of all ELs in Dubuque Community School District, Iowa; 143 of their 267 ELs are NHPI.
