Abstract
There is a growing need for knowledge and practical ideas about the preparation of teachers of ELLS, a significantly growing segment of the K-12 population in the United States. This book presents a combination of teacher preparation and ELL issues and is unique in tackling the challenges for pre-service and inservice teachers. Preparing Teachers to Work with English Language Learners in Mainstream Classrooms examines the varying knowledge, skills, and beliefs of teachers about ELLS. It aims to go beyond merely equipping teachers to meet the needs of ELLs by helping them reach a level of effectiveness with the outcome of equity.
