Abstract
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine assembled a committee of experts in STEM, English acquisition, and equity to study English learners' access to STEM-related learning opportunities. The committee's overall conclusion is that English learners are frequently denied access to these opportunities. It produced a list of 24 detailed conclusions and seven recommendations designed to ameliorate this situation. The recommendations run the gamut from actions districts can take to expanding teachers' access to appropriate curriculum and assessments.
