Abstract:
English learners are generally underrepresented in gifted and talented programs. This study confirmed this fact and then investigated the reasons as to why this is the case. Data from three elementary and middle schools were examined. The findings led to several recommendations among which are universal screening for gifted and talented programs, and alternative pathways to identification.
