Join us for a comprehensive webinar series on the Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) Newcomer Toolkit. Part 3 of the series will focus on research and practices that support access to high-quality instruction and outcomes for newcomer students, aligning with Chapter 4 of the Newcomer Toolkit. Presentations will highlight both research and practice perspectives.
Panelists will share data on the characteristics of newcomers in New York and practices related to high school graduation, share new findings from an IES-funded study on longitudinal outcomes of newcomer students and factors that mediate those outcomes, provide information about effective newcomer-specific literacy curricula, and detail a planning tool school districts use to chart a pathway for high school graduation for newcomer students who arrive in secondary grades.
