In 2024, the Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) unveiled a wealth of new resources created to support English learners (ELs). These valuable tools, available on the National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition (NCELA) website, include webinars, podcasts, tip sheets, briefs, infographics, fact sheets, and more. With so much new content to explore, it’s easy to miss some of the releases.
To help, we've compiled a guide highlighting the latest infographics and fact sheets released this year, along with an overview of the key data they contain.
OELA Fact Sheets – 2024
- English Learners Who Speak Arabic as a Home Language (April 2024)
- This fact sheet presents the numbers and percentages of EL students who spoke Arabic as a home language during the 2020–2021 school year, along with detailed visuals that highlight state-level data.
- English Learners Who Are American Indian/Alaska Native (June 2024)
- This fact sheet reports data on American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) students for the 2021–22 school year, including the states with the highest percentages of ELs who are AI/AN and the percentage of AI/AN students who identify as ELs.
- English Learners and Career and Technical Education (September 2024)
- This fact sheet highlights EL students in secondary schools who are career and technical education participants (received at least one CTE credit in that year) and concentrators (received three credits within a career cluster during high school).

- Benefits of Multilingualism - Haitian Creole, Hmong, Russian, Tagalog, and Somali (June 2024)
- In this infographic, explore the cognitive, educational, sociocultural, and economic benefits of multilingualism. The infographic was released in five new languages this year.
- The Economic Benefits of Multilingualism (July 2024)
- This infographic highlights various benefits of multilingualism, including higher college attendance, increased salaries, and better employment opportunities for those who speak a language other than English.
- English Learners Who Are Black (September 2024)
- Find insightful data on ELs who are Black, including general state percentages, local educational agencies with Black ELs, language diversity within the Black youth population, and more.
